Thanks Two Rivers!

Well, the numbers are in - over $133,000 WAY.......over our budget. Thanks to all who pushed at the end. Bottom line on this sale and every other successful sale....participation by more units = more boys selling......more boys selling = more sales. Everyone wins! Boys are involved learning, earning and achieving. Leaders are involved seeing what motivates the boys and earning money for the $unit$.

I can't afford to give a gift to everyone - but I can afford to give you a singing message. Merry Christmas and lets start planning for the next sale.

Last Push

I've always believed that "good people will never let you down." I've also taken notice that 10% of the masses complete 90% of the work. With that said I wanted to say a few words leading up to the last few weeks of the sale. Sometimes when the fire starts to die down, we lay back in our chairs and begin to slumber off. This picture is of a campfire we had a few weeks back on the New River during a canoe trip. Instead of letting the fire die down, I added more wood - now I was fortunate to have an ample supply of wood, kinda' like having enough adult leaders around to get things done. So kernels, reach down and grab another piece of wood, give the fire a stoke, and push for a few more sales.
A couple of suggestions:
Bring 3-4 small gifts to next weeks meeting and by a show of hands, pass out prizes for...
Most military donations
Most large popcorn tins sold
Funniest sales story
Most doors knocked in a day

Remember, the fuel is laying on the ground, the boys are beginning to lay back in their chairs.......grab a handful, and throw it on. Have fun, sell popcorn, and make money!

Let The Sale Begin.......

Everyone is counting on you - that's right, Scouting takes fundraising to make things happen. Hopefully by now you've had your kickoff, passed out all of the POS information, and are awaiting the results of your efforts. Oh wait.....did I do everything I could to make MY sale successful? If this has a familiar ring to it.....then do something today to change tomorrow. Your scouts, parents, district, and council are all dependent on YOU making a difference in YOUR scouting year.
Good luck with the sale, stop back, leave a comment, or tell us about your success.

2009-2010 Piedmont Council Popcorn Sale

Well, it's that time of year again. We just had the district kick-off last night and we had a great turnout. 25 units picked up popcorn information packs, and munched on carmel corn and BBQ. A lot of great information was shared. For those who didn't attend here are the highlights.
  • Anoint, appoint, or just choose a dynamic popcorn kernel for your unit
  • Pre-plan - sit down and plan your kick-off, your budget, and your management of the sale
  • Have a great kick-off - yell, shout, dress up, do whatever it takes to get the boys excited
  • Track - promote the blitz days, fill-it-up prizes, promote competition between dens, or patrols

The popcorn sale success starts, ends or succeeds with the unit leadership. If you want to have a great sale, and earn money for your boys, and your pack or troop - you will.

Have fun, Sell in uniform, and Make Money!
